Job Description

An accomplished senior sales executive who Leads a sales team in the development of 5G business for NEC in the North American market. Brings a proven history of selling multi-million network infrastructure deals to key operators with a portfolio of strong executive relationships.  Engages customer executives to position NEC products and services and builds on existing relationships to drive NEC’s 5G business with key carriers.  Proven history of building and coaching high performance sales teams.  Ability to build account strategy and expand presence across customer accounts.  Proven hunter-coach mentality , strategic thinker and ability to effectively execute account and bid strategy.  Directly influences the positive outcome of sales opportunities including RFX responses and proactive proposals.

Performs competitive analysis to provide guidance for pricing strategies, with a particular goal in winning competitive tenders based upon pricing.

Sets up the account and bid strategy and provides leadership and direction to pre-sales for RFI/RFP responses, including pricing guidance, value props and executive summary.

Position overview:

  • Acquisition of 5G RAN solution business deals with CSP’s in North America
  • Market development through proactive engagement with key customer executives and partners
  • Executive level relationship building with partner companies and leveraging partner products as part of NEC solution responses
  • Ability to act as an SI to bring in 3rd party products to create compelling and comprehensive solutions to customer needs

Goals of the role: 

  • Build sales pipeline and close deals with CSPs within North America
  • Develop a leader position within 5G open RAN market
  • Improve NEC’s open RAN roadmap from market needs perspective

Key Activities: 

  • Identify and qualify opportunities, develop a pipeline, and contract with CSP’s for 5G open RAN system and service projects
  • Attend forums, conferences, engage with industry experts, government representatives, media, analysts to promote NEC’s 5G open RAN value proposition
  • Provide market demand information and customer/competitor feedback to the product development team to enhance competitiveness and futureproof product marketing strategy for 5G open RAN

Sales capability & experience

  • Identification of key customer stakeholders and development of engagement plans
  • Offer system integration type solutions based on eco system of multiple components
  • Proactively influence industry/customer to new and dynamically transformational architecture and business models
  • Manage competitive situations assertively and close deals with P/L in mind
  • Strong executive negotiation skills with ability to work on complex deals and balance commercial, technical and strategic risk
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to structure complex deals with multiple pricing mechanisms from opex/subscription based deals to capex deals
  • Proven Closing abilities to drive pipeline to closure

Required Competencies

Technical knowledge

  • RAN and/or SI business background and experience
  • Familiar to 3GPP/ORAN forum/related standards
  • Understanding of virtualization technology

  • Fluent English
  • Global team collaboration experience
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead and inspire the sales team
  • Ability to lead by example and teamwork
